Farrenc: Complete Piano Works Vol. 3 - All World Premiere Recordings
Maria Stratigou's doctoral dissertation was "Performance Aspects of Louise Farrenc’s Piano Études." This is music she understands deeply. And as a pianist, Stratigou has the technique to make these works come alive.
#ClassicsaDay #WomensHistoryMonth Week 5, 2023
Every year when we do this theme, I discover more female composers whose music I have never heard before. But it's music that deserves to be heard -- and more than once.
#ClassicsaDay #ForgottenComposers Week 1
Here are my posts from the first week of #ForgottenComposers. I'll leave it to you to judge if they deserve to remain so.
New Louise Farrenc Series Dazzles with Technique
First and foremost, Stratigou concentrates on the musicality of the etudes. Melodies are beautifully phrased. And no matter how complex the music, it never sounds busy or cluttered.
#ClassicsaDay #WomensHistoryMonth 2022 Week 5
The Classics a Day team chose Women's History Month as the theme for March. Actually, it's been the March theme for the past five years. And there are still many composers to explore.
Louse Farrenc violin and piano music has timeless appeal
There's nothing old-fashioned about Farrenc's compositions. They sound as fresh today as any music of "the great masters."
It’s a Girl! Clever title, exceptional music
The piano trio of Irnberger, Geringas, and Moser present a program of music by female composers that spans about a century. There are big names, such as Louise Farrenc and Amy Beach. But the trio also includes other women who haven't enjoyed much exposure.
Lucie Bartholomäi crushes it with female
Check this release out because of the repertoire, and the performances. Age doesn't matter here -- just Bartholomäi's considerable experience and musicality.
