Zillacus Quartet Present Collaborative Masterworks
The Zilliacus Quartet has a warm, clear ensemble sound. They bring out the emotional content of this music, but never to excess.

Violin Concertos by Johannes Brahms; Amanda Maier; Julius Rontgen
Bottom line: don't get this for the Brahms. Do get this release for the Rontgen, and more especially for the Maier. It's worth it.

Pianist Oliver Triend plays with enthusiasm. Röntgen loved to perform, and Triendl conveys that feeling effectively. Plus he has the chops to handle all of Röntgen's technical challenges.
