It’s a Girl! Clever title, exceptional music
The piano trio of Irnberger, Geringas, and Moser present a program of music by female composers that spans about a century. There are big names, such as Louise Farrenc and Amy Beach. But the trio also includes other women who haven't enjoyed much exposure.
Bruckner Chamber Music Worth a Listen
For many, Bruckner = symphonies. But this release tweaks that equation. Bruckner > just symphonies.
Joseph Mayseder Mass ideal for choirs
The mass is an interesting work, as there are no featured soloists. It's strictly a choral composition from start to finish, and an exceptionally beautiful one.
Mayseder chamber music channels Schubert
Mayseder's style closely resembles Schubert. While he doesn't have Schubert's gift for infinite melody, these works have their appeal. The melodies are often lyrical and emotive.
