#ClassicsaDay #ClassicalQuartet Week 1
April is the fourth month of the year. And so the Classics a Day team decided to make it quartet month.
Ferdinand Ries String Quartets Vol. 4 Worth the Wait
The Schuppanzigh Quartet turns in some fine performances. The ensemble has a warm, rich sound that's in line with Rie's music. This is a good addition to this ongoing series.
Ferdinand Ries Quartets Build on Beethoven
The Schuppanzigh Quartett performs with an intensity that strengthens the Beethoven similarities. Yet they also deliver Ries' melodies with sweetness and delicacy (especially in the slow movements).
#ClassicsaDay #November11 Week 3
The challenge is to post works that are numbered 11 in some fashion, either an opus number, a series number, or even a suite number.
Strong Finale for Ferdinand Ries Piano Concerto Series
Judging by the piano part, Ries must have been a ferocious player. Although there are some real technical challenges here, Hinterhuber makes them sound simple and even fun to play.
Ferdinand Ries: A Kinder, Gentler Beethoven
An appealing collection of works for piano and orchestra!
