Gija Kancheli's Music Erupts with Elisaveta Blumina
This release presents some of Kancheli's smaller works. The centerpiece are selections from his 18 Miniatures for Violin and Piano. Also included are four works for chamber orchestra. All seem ready to burst at the seams.
Unbounded: Music by American Women
And as with her previous release, Dawn Wohn delivers committed, insightful performances.
Elsner, Krogulski, Dobrzynski: Founders of Polish Classical Music
The artists performing here do this music a great service. These are live recordings. I think the music benefits from the energy of playing together for an audience
Josef Labor Chamber Music Release Includes Wittgenstein Commissions
Clarinetist Thursten Jehanus give some thoughtful and expressive performances. Recommended.
Bruno Walter Chamber Works Show Skill
Based on these works, I wonder how much greater his contribution would have been had he continued to compose.
Elisabeth Jacquet de la Guerre: The Violin Sonatas of 1707
De La Guerre was an innovative composer who knew how to write a melody. As this release amply shows. Time to restore her to the pantheon of French composers -- where her contemporaries placed her.
George Walker Piano Sonatas - Exceptional
George Walker's music, in my opinion, isn't performed as often as its quality merits. Apparently, Steven Beck thought so, too.
Stanford Piano Quintet Pure Romantic Goodness
This is Stanford unfiltered, using the language he was most comfortable with.
Geraldine Mucha - Chamber Works Merit Discovery
Geraldine Mucha was a remarkable talent. This release shows just how remarkable.
