Silvestrov: Recent Commissions

Monday, February 6, CharlottesvilleClassical.org aires the final episode of the series, “Valentin Silvestrov: A Composer’s Journey.” This installment presents Silvestrov’s works — and journey since 2015.

Several compositions composed after 2015 were written while Silvestrov fled Kyiv. He now lives in Berlin, a refugee of the Russian invasion. This program features a piano work written during this time. Also included is one of his most well-known compositions, The Messenger. This performance is with performance is his long-time friend and colleague, Borys Federov.
