Great Movies, Great Music: 1959

Some years deliver a bumper crop of great films, and 1959 was one of those years. The gamut of great films ranges from one of Hitchcock’s best (North by Northwest), through a classic western (Rio Bravo), French new wave (The 400 Blows), to Hollywood epic (Ben Hur).

Cary Grant takes flight with the help of a cracking Bernard Herrmann score.

On this week’s Silver Screen Soundtrack Hour, we dive into the music of 1959’s bumper crop of films.
