Fiedler on Fire!
This Wednesday, Apr. 2 2025, at 9:00 am, Analog Masters features recordings made by Arthur Fiedler.
Arthur Fiedler took charge of the Boston Pops in 1930. Within five years, the orchestra began a distinguished series of recordings for RCA Victor.
In this hour, we hear some of Fiedler's most celebrated early discs, including the first substantially complete version of Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue with pianist Jesus Maria Sanroma.
Walter Piston’s ballet was a Fiedler commission, and we hear the premiere recording played from the original 78 rpm discs. Selections by Rimsky-Korsakov and Arcangelo Corelli round out the program.
