Welcome Purcell Reissues from William Christie
Everything is sung with such clean, clear articulation. You might not even need the libretto. These recordings are as rewarding to listen to today as they were when first released.
Akadamie fur Alte Musik Berlin Performs CPE Bach
Schumann Trilogy Surveys Concertos and Piano Trios
The trios have a sense of exuberance about them, especially in these performances. As I said -- a perfect program. And in this case, played to perfection.
Benjamin Alard Happily Performs Bach
Alard’s technique seems flawless. And his choice of string and register combinations elevate these performances to a different plane.
A Fresh Look at Vivaldi Concertos
This is an extraordinary collection of music. Théotime Langlois de Swarte is a superb musician; as a performer, as a conductor, and as the curator for this program. Highly recommended.
Handel Coronation Anthems get Royal Treatment
This is Handel at his most regal.
Janacek Choral Works Return to Czech Roots
If you enjoy the music of Dvorak, Smetana, or Janacek, then this album will be a treat. If you just enjoy good choral singing, then give this a listen -- the Capella Amsterdam will not disappoint.
Tune Thy Musicke to Thy Hart
Stile Antico performs with clarity and precision. Fretwork lends support on some selections, their viols adding a warm richness to the ensemble. Even if you have a lot of Renaissance music, I highly recommend this recording.
